Rune tips

Here are some hints about runes, they are valid for all professions.
  • To create a spellrune, take a blank rune into your hand and speak the spell words.
  • Blank runes can be bought at Xodet's (in the east of Thais) or Rachel (in the south of Carlin).
  • You can also create two runes at the same time, if you take two blanks into your hands and have enough mana (twice the normal cost).
  • You can use a rune, if it is
    • in your hand
    • in your bag/backpack
    • on the ground beside you
  • To use a rune, move your mouse cursor on top of it and click the right mouse button. A crosshair will appear. Left-click the target (with healing runes that can also be yourself) to use the rune.
  • Right-clicking a second time cancels the aiming process.
  • Damage of offensive Spells and Runes:
    • Damage increases with Magic level and Main level of the caster.
      • The damage is about 100% around level 20 of both
      • about 200% around level 40 of both
      • nearly 0% with level 1
  • There are three kinds of runes
    • Arial runes (e.g. Great Fireball rune)
      • You do not have to aim these runes at a special target to fire them. Just shoot at the approximate area of the enemies.
    • Target-specific runes (e.g. Sudden Death rune)
      • You must aim at a specific target, or the rune will not fire.
      • Aim at the feet of the creature! Some larger creatures (Bears, Giant Spider) cover more than one square at any time, but only one of them is the actual target you can wound: it's always the lower left square.
      • If you hit the target, the rune will fire after a short delay (and it will hit it's target even if it has moved in the meantime) - if you missed, the rune won't fire and a grey cloud-animation appears on your character.
    • Non-target-specific runes (e.g. Poison Field rune)
      • With these runes, you don't necessarily have to hit a target - even if you don't hit anything, the rune will fire.
      • These runes are the hardest to aim at a moving target.
      • Aim at the feet of the creature or at the square you want to hit, then fire.
  • You can lay a rune out on the floor beside your character and fight against a monster in hand-to-hand combat too, while firing the rune.
