Communication

This part of the client is used to communicate with other players and casting spells.
There are several public channels for community relevant activities. But you can open private channels, too.

client text console

To switch between channels click on the tabs above (1) or use the tabulator key. The scroll button(4) is useful to switch between channels aren't displayed because of too many channels are open. The currently active channel is marked with white color. Channels not active but containing new conversations are marked red else they are gray.
The big area in the middle (2) displaying the text, the input field (3) below is used for messaging and casting spells.

The symbols in the upper right (5).

Buttons in the text console

Click on the first symbol from the right will let popup a ignore window where you can put in all players you want to ignore.

Ignore list

Just put in the name of the player, you don't want to hear anything from again and submit.
Clicking on "Ignore Yelling" will disable yelling and you won't see any yelling again, "Ignore Private Message" is the same as before but for private messages.

Beside this there is a button for open new channels.

Channel selection

This can be one of the public channels you closed before or a private channel for talking to another player where you have to put in his name.

The Button "M" will display the server message in every open channel, if not they will only be displayed in the "Default" channel. With the "X" - Button you can close every channel except the "Default" channel.

In the lower left of the text console (6) you can adjust the "loudness" in the "Default" channel. There are three levels indicated by the number of lines behind the triangle: 1 - normal, 2 - yelling/screaming, 0 - whisper.

On normal level you can reach everybody on the current screen, that means everybody is on the screen will hear you. Yelling means that you will be heard by people aren't on the screen but near you. But notice, yelling is only available on level 2 and higher. Yelling the same message more than once can be a reason for a banishment. Whispering is only visible as "pspsps" on the screen except to people who are standing in the fields next to you.

The edit field (3) is used for sending messages. Just type in something and hit the RETURN-Key. You can use the keys HOME, END, Shift+Left and Shift+Right for editing your message. To scroll around old message for resending/reviewing them use Shift+Up and Shift+Down. The F-Keys are used as Hotkeys. You can edit them in the "Hotkeys"-Dialog in "Options" before logging in or in "Menu" while being logged in.

personalize hotkeys

For personal shortcuts you can use the function keys F1 to F12 and combination of Shift or CTRL with F1 to F12.

For whispering, yelling and normal talking are shortscuts available, too. Just put the shortcuts #W (whisper), #Y (yelling) or #S (normal talking) in front of the text you want to say. Putting *name* (name is the playername you want to send a message) in front of the text will result in a private message only this player will receive. Putting "~" after parts of the name you can abbreviate the name.

But notice, you can only cast spells or talking to NPC's in the default channel, else you need to put the prefix #S in front of the text

You can't personalize the colors of the messages. White colored messages are messages from the game like skill or magic level up, or that you can't eat more, because you are filled up. Green messages are descriptions of items, you are taking a look on (more here). Conversation between players or message by NPC's are colored yellow. Server message are red, e.g. the server goes down for a reboot or announcements by CIP or gamemasters.

Many NPCs inhabit the game. NPC's are computer-controlled characters, selling and buying items, telling stories or offering some jobs. If you take a look at a character and there isn't displayed a level it is a NPC.

You can start a conversation with every NPC starting with "hello" followed by the name of the NPC (e.g. "hello Sam"). Most NPC's react on the word job and telling you something about their task in the game. Most times there are more keywords in the answer of a NPC they are react on. If a NPC answers something like "First you should try to get some gold and buy better equipment" he reacts on gold and equipment too.

Sometimes they react on keywords like name, time and quest, too. Or they react on names of NPC's near their location.

The keyword offers is normally used in conversation with shop owner NPC's and you will know something about their offers. To buy something say: "buy itemname". The NPC will tell you the price and you have to confirm the deal with "yes". If you have enough gold for the deal, the gold will be replaced with the item.

To stop a conversation with an NPC say "bye" or just leave him.
A NPC can only speak to one person at the same time. Don't block NPC's because other characters want to talk to him, too!
