Login - Part 1

When you run TIBIA.EXE, you see the starting screen, which looks like this:

Tibia Client

Let's first look at the menu: First you see some buttons, called "Enter Game", "Access Account;, "Options", "Info" and "Exit Game".
If you click on "Options" you will get the following dialog:

General preferences Graphic preferences Preferences of the text console Network preferences Hotkeys CIP's Message of the Day Options

The windows show you now any options. First we see "General Options". Here you can choose :

Tibia Classic Control: Check this option, if you want to do object handling like in the old client. Then you can look at objects by clicking on them with both mouse buttons and use objects or attack creatures by clicking on them with the right mouse button. The context menu, which gives you more options, will open when you hold Ctrl while clicking on the object with any mouse button.

Auto Chase Off: If this option is selected, your player will automatically stop chasing his or her opponent whenever you submit a "Go" command, i.e., you press a cursor key or click somewhere on the playing field with the mouse, during a fight. If you want the chase mode to remain active, uncheck this option.

Show Hints: Hints will be given whenever something special happens, e.g., logging in for the first time, killing your first monster, etc. A flashing exclamation mark in the top right corner of the playing field will indicate new hints. Uncheck this option, if you don't want to see it. Nevertheless, you can still access all hints using the "Help" menu.

Show Names of Creatures: Above all creatures on the map their name and health is displayed. Uncheck this option, if you don't want to see it. You can also toggle this option using the shortcut Ctrl+N. This might be useful when you enter a crowded place.

Show Textual Effects: When creatures lose hitpoints or gain experience, this is indicated by a rising number above the creature. If you don't like this effect, uncheck this option.

General Options

The next option you can choose is the Graphics part from the client.

Fullscreen: Check this option if you want to play in fullscreen mode, i.e., Tibia will occupy the whole screen. You can also switch between fullscreen mode and windowed mode using the shortcut Ctrl+F or Alt+Enter. In the listbox below you can select the resolution fullscreen mode should use.

Show Light Effects: Some graphic cards are not able to draw smooth light effects quickly, and the performance of the program will decrease. If you uncheck this option, light effects will be simulated by an (ugly) black mesh on the playing field, but the performance will be better. If your graphic card is not able to draw light effects at all, this option will be disabled.

Don't stretch/shrink the Map: Some graphic cards are not able to do stretching or shrinking quickly, which will also result in bad performance. If you check this option, the playing field will just be displayed in its original size, thus releasing your graphics card. When you start Tibia for the first time, it will try to find out whether your graphic card supports stretching, and set this option accordingly.

Windows Mouse Pointer: Some graphic cards are not able to draw the Windows mouse pointer correctly: The mouse pointer will flicker. If you uncheck this option, Tibia will use its own mouse pointer, which will always be visible, but might be slower.
Here you can also choose between many resolutions. Usually, the graphics in the Tibia client stretch to fill any screen size. However, the larger your window is, the less pretty the graphics will look. The height and width of the graphics might also be out of proportion.
Adjust framerate limit: Here you find a slider to set your framerate. The higher it is, the better performance the client gives.
But be careful: Higher performance requires better hardware or more ressources.

Resolution      Advanced options

Now you can choose between any Options for the text console at your client.

Show ... Messages: Use these options to specify, which messages should be recorded in the console.

Info Messages: Green messages you receive when you look at objects.

Event Messages: White messages, which appear in the center of the playing field when you advance to the next level, for example.

Status Messages: White messages like "You lose ... hitpoints." at the bottom of the playing field.

Show Timestamp in Console: If this option is checked, the time when each message arrived will be displayed in the console. Note that this time is the local time of your computer.

Textconsole options

At last you can check and set your network options.

Further informations: Sometimes CIP let test the players new features at a testserver. In such a case you have to mark the "testserver", then you login at that server.
